Italian Student Visa (Type D) for Indian Students (2026 Guide)
Eligibility
- Confirmed admission letter from an Italian university.
- Approved pre-enrolment summary from the Universitaly portal.
- Proof of sufficient funds to cover living expenses.
- Valid health insurance and confirmed accommodation in Italy.
Financial Requirements (2026-27)
- This amount must be shown in your or your family sponsor's bank account.
- A formal bank statement for the last 6 months is required.
Application Process
- Book an Appointment: Schedule your appointment on the VFS Global Italy website.
- Complete Application Form: Fill out the National Visa Application Form accurately.
- Submit Documents: Attend your appointment with all required documents, your passport, and photographs. You will also provide biometrics.
- Pay Fees: The visa fee is €50 (approx. ₹5,200), plus VFS service charges.
- Track Application: Monitor your application status online via the VFS portal.
Processing takes 15-45 calendar days but can extend during peak seasons (June-August). Apply at least 3-4 months before your course starts.
